EDIT: Unfortunately the city of San Francisco deemed our coworking space to be "administrative and not retail" We were forced to shut our doors. We'd love to open it again if possible in the future and will keep you posted. -Jered

On Saturday, June 7, 20Mission and Johny Radio hosted a Noise Hack: a day of building and programming experimental noise and music producing things. Participants built or coded electro-acoustic, electronic, or software noise devices. Then we jammed out!
Enjoy this spellbinding video of the Noise Orchestra, jamming at 20Mission, SF. Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and press play. Then, scroll down to hear more about the hacking sessions:
Behind the scenes, totally cool people built and demo'd totally cool noise-making devices and instruments. Check it out the video!
Johny Radio taught participants to build the Jar Of Noise: a fun, light-reactive electronic oscillator, based on the Schmitt logic inverter. http://noise.inyourear.org
Bryan Day, inventor of the Magnetoselqier, taught participants to build a Whiskerphone: an amplified carbon fiber filament on a stick, to detect minute sounds in everyday objects. http://www.bryanday.net
Grant Taylor demo'd and performed his handmade Bassic plank bass guitar, including a pickup made from a magnet shoved inside an old transformer. http://vimeo.com/69977958
Alex "Dotter" Hay demo'd and performed her hand-carved rosewood clave-like collection. In her spare time, Alex produces killer dance-floor tracks! http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/dotter-isle-alexandra-hay-interview
Merlin demo'd and performed her Stylotar, a slimy electric guitar body Frankenstein'd with a seriously dissected Stylophone. (pretty sure her warranty is voided!) http://www.alexglow.com/
Ben Salomon demo'd and performed his amazing cigarbox feedback contraption. http://www.bensalomonmusic.com/

20Mission Coworking has been officially opened for a solid 4 months and things are picking up! Looking back at our "Open House" party in November, the Robot Dance Party "Spiff" made a great appearance and danced on the Mission streets to some Michael Jackson and Run DMC.
Inside, we had a great group art show of local artists featuring works from Alfredo Monster, Stefan Aronsen, Shayna Yasuhara, Charles Peretti, Nak Bou, and Bloejow! Once the party goers came, they had libations and photo booth fun with our very own 20Mission mascot: the #20missiontub. Thats right, we have a beloved tub and everyone jumped in on the photo fun (literally)! With a great crowd, who could ask more? 20Mission did of course! We brought on a great live funk reggae band known as Thunderground Collective! Their positive energy was the perfect ending to a great Open House.
Join us on the fun in our upcoming FREE "Ugly Sweater Party" but we do ask for a toy donation. These fabulous toys everyone will be donating will all go to the kids from "The Boys & Girls Club, Mission Clubhouse Edition"! So come have some tasty free Zinfandel, give a lil, and enjoy the festivities! With new artwork from local artists, a Santa Claus piñata, and live music from the "Brass Magic Band". Come get down with everyone and represent your ugly sweaters. See you soon! ;)
Walking down on Mission street, there's always a abundant flavor of culture, people, and diverse food. But where around this area can I get a quiet, clean, friendly place to work?

Forget spending endless amounts of money on coffee at cafes or worrying about leaving your laptop to the public when you use the restroom. Say HELLO to complementary snacks, safe and friendly staff members, and high fiber optic WI-FI. Oh, did we mention, 20Mission is literally a few foot steps away from BACON WRAPPED HOT DOGS outside!
